QPR Eyeing Move For International Keeper

Queens Park Rangers have made a move for Arsenal goalkeeper Karl Hein as they look to strengthen between the sticks this summer.

The Estonian international is set to leave the Gunners, with interest mounting following a breakthrough loan spell in Spain.

QPR Eye Keeper as Hein Exit Nears

SportsBoom reports that Julian Stephan’s outfit  are among the clubs to have made an enquiry about Hein’s availability, with the 23-year-old now expected to leave Arsenal after Kepa Arrizabalaga’s £5 million move nears completion.

Hein, who has been capped 37 times for Estonia, has yet to play a league game for Arsenal but made significant progress during a recent loan spell with Real Valladolid in Spain. That run of first-team action was a rare highlight in a career that has so far lacked consistent domestic minutes, despite a long-term deal signed in 2021.

The stopper, who began his career with Nõmme United, was also loaned to Reading in 2023 but managed only five appearances for the Royals.

Now, with Hein keen to find a club that can offer regular football, QPR have joined the race alongside Preston North End and Portsmouth. Preston are in the market for a new number one after the departure of Freddie Woodman, while Valladolid are keen on a permanent reunion with the Estonian.

Loan or Permanent on the Table

Discussions have taken place over both a loan and a permanent switch, with a reported £1 million valuation placed on Hein’s head. With financial constraints always a consideration at Loftus Road, a temporary deal may prove more viable—though a long-term investment is not being ruled out.

At just 23 years old, Hein still holds considerable potential and could provide a solution to QPR’s goalkeeping needs for the future, particularly with current options lacking top-end experience. With the club eager to avoid another campaign battling near the bottom, his arrival could add much-needed depth and competition.

Site Opinion

Hein fits the mould of what QPR need right now—young, talented, and with a point to prove. His experience in La Liga shows he can perform in a demanding environment, and if a deal can be struck at the right price, this could be a smart piece of business for the R’s. Whether a permanent or loan move, it’s clear QPR are acting early to address a key position.
