Fresh from lifting the EFL Trophy at Wembley in an otherwise difficult season, Peterborough United are looking to reshape how fans engage with the club by planning a ‘Netflix-style’ subscription model set for a potential 2027 launch.
The proposal would see supporters spread the cost of season tickets, replica shirts, and other expenses across monthly payments, easing financial pressures and improving club cash flow. Chairman Darragh MacAnthony believes it could transform the way fans experience being part of the club.
‘Posh Plus Plus’: A New Approach to Fan Loyalty
Speaking on his ‘Hard Truth’ podcast, MacAnthony explained the core idea behind what he currently calls ‘Posh Plus Plus’ – a tiered membership system offering varying levels of benefits based on how much fans commit each month.
“We are currently trial testing it. I’m calling it Posh Plus Plus at the moment. We want to ensure people can’t game the system. There would be levels to it, with single offers of say gold, platinum and titanium membership and a family level,” MacAnthony said.
The club hopes the subscription model will boost season ticket sales from around 5,000 to 7,500 over time. While admitting the first year could present cash flow challenges, MacAnthony is confident that the system will be beneficial to both the club and its loyal fanbase.
Peterborough’s leadership insists the initiative is designed with flexibility and affordability in mind. Rather than one-off large payments, fans could see their annual costs – covering tickets, shirts, club shop vouchers, and even food and drink – spread across the year.
MacAnthony was quick to downplay concerns of inflated pricing, assuring fans that the project is built to offer better value rather than simply extracting more money.
“I’m a multi-millionaire and I still love paying for things monthly so I don’t get big one-off bills to pay at a bad time for me,” he added.
After a season of ups and downs, capped by a memorable Wembley win, Peterborough are keen to build sustainably for the future. If successful, this model could provide a blueprint for other clubs facing the financial realities of modern football.

Peterborough United’s bold thinking should be applauded. Turning a turbulent season into an opportunity to innovate shows real ambition. The Posh Plus Plus concept could ease pressures on fans’ wallets and strengthen club loyalty — but its success will depend on the execution and the value it truly delivers. If they get it right, Posh could lead the way for the rest of League One and beyond.
