Omer Riza’s Parting Words to Cardiff City: Only Unity Can Save Season

Omer Riza has urged everyone connected to Cardiff City to stick together after his abrupt departure as manager with just three crucial Championship matches remaining.

Cardiff slipped deeper into relegation trouble following a 2-0 defeat to Sheffield United on Friday night, prompting the club’s hierarchy to act swiftly. With the Bluebirds sitting 23rd and a point adrift of safety, Aaron Ramsey has been placed in interim charge for the run-in against Oxford United, West Bromwich Albion and Norwich City.

Emotional Goodbye and Rallying Call

In a statement posted on Instagram, Riza thanked Cardiff’s owner Tan Sri, the players, staff, and supporters, reflecting positively on a turbulent season.

“Although not quite there yet I firmly believe we will survive. The staff around the ground and stadium have all been supportive throughout and I wish you all the very best. The city, the club, the fans, players and board, you can only do this if you do it together,” he wrote.

Riza highlighted some standout moments from his time in charge, including a memorable derby win against Swansea City, a thumping victory over Plymouth Argyle, and ending Watford’s long unbeaten run. He also spoke emotionally about the support he received from fans following the death of his father earlier this year.

While results ultimately sealed his fate, Riza’s message was clear: Cardiff’s hopes of survival hinge on total unity across the club.

Despite early optimism after taking over from Erol Bulut, inconsistency and a lack of goals have left Cardiff in real danger. With little margin for error, Ramsey must inspire a revival if the club is to avoid dropping into League One for the first time since 2003.

Omer Riza’s dignified farewell should serve as a reminder to Cardiff fans and players alike that division will only hasten their downfall. As Aaron Ramsey takes the reins for three defining matches, unity and belief must be the foundation of any survival bid. If they stand together, Cardiff still have a fighting chance – but time is fast running out.
