Luton Town have submitted a bid to sign Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Kelman, according to journalist Darren Witcoop on X.
The 22-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Leyton Orient, is understood to be attracting firm interest from the Hatters, as newly-relegated Luton aim to rebuild under manager Matt Bloomfield in League One.
Championship side West Bromwich Albion are also reportedly keen, but it is Luton who are said to have made the first formal approach.
Kelman in Demand After Leyton Orient Loan
Kelman has been on QPR’s books since 2020 but has struggled to hold down a consistent first-team role. After loan spells at Gillingham and Leyton Orient, where he featured prominently in League One last season, the striker appears to be on the move again, this time on a permanent basis.
With QPR now looking to reshape their squad, Kelman may be seen as expendable. For Luton, though, the forward’s pace and potential make him a valuable target as they aim for an immediate return to the Championship.
Luton Restructure Continues Under Bloomfield
Following relegation from the Championship in May, Bloomfield is overseeing a summer of change at Kenilworth Road.
Having previously impressed in charge of Wycombe Wanderers, the 41-year-old is now tasked with reshaping a Luton side still adjusting to life outside the top two tiers. Reinforcements are expected across the pitch, and Kelman’s profile fits with the club’s strategy of signing young, hungry players with scope to develop.
Kelman would join a front line currently built around Elijah Adebayo. Bringing in a mobile, pressing striker like Kelman would offer Bloomfield more flexibility in both formation and approach.
West Brom Watching On
West Brom remain in the picture and could yet complicate matters. The Baggies are understood to be monitoring Kelman’s situation closely and may move should QPR formally make the player available.
Whether Kelman is tempted by the prospect of Championship football with West Brom or a more regular starting role at Luton could prove decisive.

Coming off the back of securing the League One golden boot last year, the striker clearly has no issues in front of goal at this level. This, as well as his overall traits, are central to Bloomfield’s philosophy, and a move could benefit both parties.
This also signals Luton’s broader intent, to act early in the market and bring in players who are ready to adapt to League One but capable of making the step up. If the Hatters can fend off Championship interest, they may end up with a smart addition at a key stage of the rebuild.
The deal isn’t done yet, but Luton’s ambition to secure Kelman could prove an astute move as they seek a swift return to the second tier.
