Kirklees Stadium – Huddersfield Town Stadium Guide

Introduction to the Ground

Kirklees Stadium, located just outside Huddersfield town centre, has been home to Huddersfield Town A.F.C. since 1994. Built to replace Leeds Road, the ground marked a significant move towards modernisation for the club. It was one of the first stadiums in the UK to adopt a bowl-style design, and its architecture earned immediate recognition, including the Royal Institute of British Architects’ Building of the Year award in 1995.

With a capacity of 24,121, the stadium offers an all-seater experience and features a layout designed to maximise views and acoustics, helping to foster an intense matchday atmosphere in West Yorkshire.

Stand Overview and Seating Plan

North Stand (Terriers Together):
Located behind the goal, this is the primary home end. It houses the most vocal support and serves as the focal point for club-led initiatives promoting inclusivity and community involvement.

South Stand:
Directly opposite the North Stand, this area usually accommodates away fans. It also serves as an overflow stand for home supporters during high-demand matches.

East Stand (Kilner Bank):
Running along the side of the pitch, this two-tiered structure includes the family section and many long-time season ticket holders. It offers unobstructed views and a large seating capacity.

West Stand (Riverside):
This is the stadium’s main stand, containing hospitality boxes, the dugouts, press facilities, and the players’ tunnel. It also features executive seating and club offices.

Ticket Prices and Access

Ticket prices for Huddersfield Town fixtures vary depending on the competition, opposition, and seating area. Adult tickets for Championship matches typically range between £20 and £35. Concessions are available for over-65s, under-18s, and under-11s. Cup matches may be priced lower in the early rounds, sometimes starting from £10.

Season cards are available and offer significant savings for regular attendees, alongside benefits such as priority access to away tickets and retail discounts. The club also runs a membership scheme for supporters who attend less frequently but still want access to offers and early sales.

Tickets can be bought via the club’s official website, over the phone, or at the ticket office. Digital delivery, postal dispatch, and collection options are all available.

Getting to the Stadium

Kirklees Stadium is a 15-minute walk from Huddersfield Railway Station, with clear signposting and pedestrian-friendly routes. Most visiting fans travelling by train arrive this way.

For those driving, the stadium is accessible via the A62 and A616. On-site parking is limited and usually requires advance booking. Overflow parking is available in nearby retail parks and public car parks. Blue Badge parking can be arranged through the club with prior notice.

Bus services from the town centre and surrounding areas run frequently, especially on matchdays.

Entry Points and Fan Facilities

Home Supporters:
Home fans enter via designated turnstiles aligned with each stand. The North and East stands are accessed from the northern and eastern sides of the ground respectively. Signage from the town centre and Gasworks Street makes navigation straightforward. Turnstiles typically open 90 minutes before kick-off. Supporters can access food kiosks, fan zones, and the club shop before entering.

Away Supporters:
Away fans are usually seated in the South Stand. This stand has its own entrance, with dedicated stewarding and concourse facilities. Coaches and minibuses are directed to drop-off zones near the away section, with stewards on hand to guide visiting fans. As with the home end, turnstiles open 90 minutes before kick-off.

Matchday Experience

Huddersfield Town matchdays are community-focused and inclusive. The most intense support is found in the North Stand, while the Kilner Bank hosts a mix of families and long-time supporters. The build-up starts in the town centre and surrounding pubs before fans move along the River Colne to the stadium. Food stalls, club activities, and pre-match entertainment contribute to the experience outside the ground.

Inside, acoustics are strong, and crowd engagement is high for big fixtures, particularly against Yorkshire rivals or Championship promotion contenders.

Planned Stadium Improvements

Huddersfield Town are part of a long-term redevelopment plan that will see major upgrades to Kirklees Stadium. Proposals include a new 200-seat restaurant, upgraded conference and dining facilities, and a new on-site hotel and megastore. The enhancements form part of the broader HDOne regeneration project, which aims to turn the area into a mixed-use venue with retail, dining, and leisure offerings.

These developments are designed to boost revenue for the club and KSDL while improving the supporter experience and long-term sustainability of the ground.
