Burnley Winger Could Exercise Contract Exit Clause

Burnley winger Jaidon Anthony has revealed that a contract clause could see him make a permanent move to Turf Moor from AFC Bournemouth if the Clarets achieve promotion to the Premier League.

The 25-year-old, who struggled for minutes during a loan spell at Leeds United last season, has thrived since joining Burnley on loan at the start of the campaign. His performances have made him an important figure in Scott Parker’s promotion-chasing side.

Anthony confirmed that his current contract includes a clause that will trigger a permanent transfer if Burnley returns to the top flight.

“I’m loving it. Last year was very different; I didn’t play as much, but this year, I’m buzzing with the playing time,” Anthony told the Burnley Express. “If we go up, then I’ll be here permanently, which is an exciting prospect.”

Thriving Under Parker

Anthony’s revival at Burnley has been a stark contrast to his frustrating spell at Leeds, where he was used primarily as an impact substitute. Since arriving at Turf Moor, he has featured in 31 games, scoring three goals and providing five assists.

His contributions have helped Burnley remain in the thick of the Championship promotion battle. With just a few months left in the season, Anthony will be looking to continue his impressive form as Burnley fights for an automatic promotion spot.

“Hopefully, that happens, and then I’ll continue this in the Premier League and keep helping Burnley Football Club,” he added.

Burnley’s Promotion Battle

Parker’s men currently sit third in the Championship, two points behind Sheffield United in second place and seven points off league leaders Leeds United. The race for automatic promotion remains tight, and Burnley will need to maintain their momentum in the final stretch of the season.

Anthony has played a key role in their recent success, and should Burnley secure promotion, his contract clause will ensure he remains part of their Premier League squad.

Future Uncertain if Burnley Falls Short

While Anthony appears eager to continue at Burnley, his future remains uncertain if the club fails to secure a top-two finish. A return to Bournemouth could see him reassess his options, with other Championship clubs likely to be interested in signing him on a permanent deal.

For now, his priority is helping Burnley push for promotion and ensuring his long-term future remains at Turf Moor.

Site Opinion

Anthony’s transformation at Burnley is a testament to the impact of regular playing time and the right tactical system. His struggles at Leeds did not reflect his true ability, and he has now emerged as a key player under Parker. If Burnley reaches the Premier League, a permanent move seems inevitable, and it would be a great signing for the club. However, if they fall short, his future could take a different path, making the final months of the season even more crucial.
