But, even with fewer games, there was no shortage of action and standout performances, especially in League Two. From last-minute goals to hat-tricks, this week’s Fantasy EFL saw players turning in memorable performances, many of whom were unexpected heroes.
The weekend began with a thrilling early kick-off between Chesterfield and Notts County, where much was expected from Fantasy EFL favorites like Daniel Crowley and Alassana Jatta, but both failed to deliver. Chesterfield looked set for a shock victory, but a 94th-minute equalizer from Notts County’s David McGoldrick saved the day, adding another goal to his tally and frustrating Chesterfield fans.
What followed was a goal-packed Saturday afternoon, with 40 goals scored across just 12 matches. Below, we break down the top performers from Gameweek 10 across all positions.
Goalkeepers Steal the Show
Two goalkeepers managed to pull off impressive performances in Gameweek 10, both securing nine points for Fantasy managers. However, neither player had significant backing.
Stuart Moore of Morecambe was a standout performer, making five saves and keeping a clean sheet in a surprise victory against Barrow. Morecambe had not won a game all season, making Moore’s performance all the more impressive, even though he was picked by hardly any Fantasy managers.
Port Vale’s Connor Ripley also made a strong case for inclusion in more Fantasy teams, earning his second consecutive clean sheet and three saves in a 1-0 win over MK Dons. Currently owned by just 1% of managers, Ripley is one to watch as more managers eye his defensive potential for upcoming matches.
Defenders Make Their Mark
The best defensive performance of the gameweek came from Harrogate Town’s Toby Sims, who delivered an incredible 15-point haul in their 1-0 win over Newport County. Sims contributed not only defensively, but also by scoring the only goal of the game, adding significant value for his Fantasy managers. Despite his stellar performance, Sims was picked by just 0.2% of managers, making him one of the top differential picks of the gameweek.
Other defenders who delivered big include Swindon’s George Cox, Bradford’s Cheick Diabate, and Shrewsbury’s Aristote Nsiala, each collecting 12 points. Cox had the potential for an even higher score, but his clean sheet was lost due to two late goals, and a yellow card knocked him down a few more points.
Midfielders: Archer and McGregor Light Up the Pitch
Cheltenham Town’s Ethon Archer and Swindon Town’s Joel McGregor were the two top-scoring midfielders in Gameweek 10, each bagging an impressive 16 points. Archer, a playmaker for Cheltenham, scored a goal, made three key passes, and provided an assist, all while contributing defensively. At just 0.4% ownership, he is a tantalizing option for Fantasy managers looking for an under-the-radar pick in the next gameweek.
McGregor was equally impressive, playing a crucial role in both attack and defense for Swindon Town. His performance included a goal and four crucial interceptions. Prior to this game, McGregor had barely featured for Fantasy teams, but his game-changing contributions this week will surely get managers to take notice.
Accrington Stanley’s Ben Woods also turned heads with a 14-point haul, thanks to a goal, an assist, and strong defensive work in a shock victory over Gillingham. Though Woods had a low ownership rate, his performance makes him a potential target for those looking for an edge in the upcoming double gameweek.
Forwards Shine: Stevens Steals the Show
AFC Wimbledon’s Matt Stevens was the undeniable star of the week, delivering a massive 24-point haul after scoring a hat-trick in his team’s 4-0 win over Carlisle United. Stevens also provided two key passes and three shots on target, making him an instant target for Fantasy managers looking to capitalize on his form. His ownership was incredibly low at just 0.1%, but after this performance, that number is certain to rise.
Shrewsbury Town’s John Marquis was another forward who made waves, scoring twice and assisting in an eight-goal thriller against Crawley Town. Marquis picked up 16 points and is now on the radar for the upcoming double gameweek, especially since he is also owned by just 0.1% of Fantasy managers.
Other notable forward performances came from Grimsby Town’s Luca Barrington, Bradford City’s Andy Cook, and Shrewsbury’s George Lloyd, all of whom secured 13 points. Cook, in particular, continues to justify his popularity among Fantasy managers, with two more goals this week, bringing his season tally to seven.
