Jacob Chapman has signed a new long-term deal with Huddersfield Town following a breakthrough season which saw the young goalkeeper step up in the absence of Lee Nicholls and establish himself as a key squad member.
The 24-year-old has agreed terms to stay at the club until 2027, with his new deal confirmed after an 18-month extension was triggered. Chapman played 24 times this season during a vital stretch of the campaign and is now aiming to continue his development at the club he calls home.
Chapman grateful for growth at Town
“This has been a really important season for me,” Chapman told the club’s official channels. “So I’m delighted that my performances have seen my contract with the club extended.”
“I’m always ready whenever the team needs me at first-team level, so for that to also see my run here continue means a lot.”
Originally from Sydney, Chapman joined Town in 2019 and has gradually climbed the ranks. Loan spells at clubs including Salford and Rochdale helped his development, but it was this season that saw him grab his opportunity in the senior team with both gloves.
Learning from the best, staying grounded
Chapman was full of praise for the people who have helped him grow, singling out the influence of senior keepers Lee Nicholls and Chris Maxwell in particular.
“I’ve learned so much, growing as both a player and a person in the last six years,” he said. “Working with goalkeepers of the level of Lee and Maxi every day is a privilege. I wouldn’t have played the way I did earlier this season without the time and hard work of so many people at the club.”
He added: “Moving from Sydney at a young age, Huddersfield became my home, and this town and club mean so much to me. I’m honoured to represent the club and our fans, and will keep working hard each day to keep improving and becoming a better goalkeeper.”
